...promoting play to parents!
What is Stepping into Play?
The Stepping into Play is a six-session programme, two hours a week, targeted at parents and carers to empower them to offer their children high value play with low cost resources. It helps parents to understand the importance and value of play and its role in child development and includes topics such as: types of play; stages of play; extending play opportunities; how to use free or low cost resources for rich play experiences; raising children’s self esteem and the role of adults in children’s play. It is a comprehensive and fun programme and so a great tool for engaging parents. After taking part, parents will play more with their children and use play as a means to build positive relationships with their children.
Staff can deliver the programme using the Stepping into Play facilitators’ manual which contains a detailed agenda for each session, explanatory notes, hand-outs and activity sheets. It is a priceless resource for your organisation to use again and again.
